Top 5 Wellness Trends for Brides

If you are planning for your wedding it is important to know the top 5 wellness trends for Brides to follow. Many people are confused on what exactly constitutes a healthy eating regimen because there is so much contradictory information that floods us everyday through the media, books and magazines.

Unfortunately there is no one size fits all since every one is bio-chemically different. Meaning that our needs are different because our lifestyles are different and our stress levels are different but overall some things  will always be universal.  What are the Top 5 Wellness Trends for Brides?

1. Choose Colors of the Rainbow –  Red, purple, orange and the blue of blueberries– these wonderful colors are from what everyone knows as phytochemicals which comes from the sun and the sun gives us this energy which is what you will definitely need as a bride.  As you do your shopping at the market think about color.

2. Limit your white intake – Simple white carbohydrates such as white flour, pasta, rice and potatoes behave like sugar on your blood-sugar levels. Sending those levels very high and them dropping them to a extreme low. If you constantly eat this way,  you can put yourself at risk for developing insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes which is associated with heart disease and other degenerative diseases.  Look for 100% whole grain ingredients instead. White foods are known to be very constipating.

3. Don’t eat anything that your grandmother didn’t eat – The healthiest foods are foods that are grown from the earth. Our bodies are designed to eat things that comes from nature and it knows how to make use of the nutritional value that it contains.  Generations back ate a whole foods diet rich in whole grains, fruit, vegetables, legumes– they definitely didn’t eat anything that came in a bog, box or a tin can. For simple reasons, it didn’t exist!

The next time you are contemplating what to eat…think of the GRANDMOTHER RULE = Sugar coated cereal with freeze – dried fruit? Nope!  Crackers made with partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, salt and artificial flavors? Put them back! Carbonated soft drinks with high fructose corn syrup in it? Never! And she would say, “sweetie what are you eating”?  So make her proud and make the right nutritional choices.

4. Never skip breakfast Anything with whole grains is of course an excellent choice. If you enjoy oatmeal in the morning try Steel Cut with added golden raisins, nuts, chopped apple, sliced nuts or cinnamon as toppings (old fashion oatmeal…remember GRANDMOTHER RULE) instant quick cook rolled oats. For years I hated cooked oatmeal until I started adding the extras.

5. Don’t let yourself get overly hungry - Your body and brain works best when they are fueled regularly with a balance of foods; carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats. Eat a balanced breakfast and healthy snacks mid morning and after lunch to keep from blindly eating. Hummus with whole grain crackers (minimal ingredients), 1 handful of almonds, apples, bananas — these are all snacks that will help to keep your blood sugar balanced and your energy level up so that you can enjoy your wedding day.
